Friday Faves - The Bladetech EDC Belt
Many of us have seen how a true leather belt ages with use. Imagine a leather belt with immortality and eternal youth. That's essentially what this is. Bladetech's Every Day Carry (EDC) belt is a brand new product for this year and it is one of the best designed EDC belts I have seen so far.
You have to really look close and then manipulate it aggressively in your hands before you convince yourself it's NOT leather. It looks and moves just like supple hide but I twisted it, pulled it taut, pulled on the holes with the buckle and ... nothing. This is one tough belt.
In true Bladetech fashion, it incorporated some forward thinking in its design to resolve typical past problems. The belt has Biothane coated nylon webbing core to resist the warping and stretching you might see with other belts. Biothane is used by NASA for their space suit straps, the NFL for their chin straps and shoulder pads and much more. It also means flexibility and mobility with an impressive 4,500 lbs of tensile strength. The holes stay true to size over the life of the product.
It is surprisingly soft to the touch, but under some tension with a holster clip , it does provide a snug and secure hold of the holster. It is also impervious to sweat and the elements.
It's just wide enough for a broad and firm hold over your IWB holster, providing firm retention against your body but it easily doubles as a beautiful accessory for your everyday wear.
$50 for a space-age belt with a classic design!
